We are Home..

So it has been a while since I posted a blog, but we have been incredibly busy. March 31, after Brent was done work, we started our drive to visit my family for Easter Weekend! It was a much needed trip for me. I hadn’t seen most of my family since Christmas. We got home on April 6. I want to create a video of our trip there but for now, I will share some pictures of our weekend and some of the things we enjoyed.

Wednesday, March 31

We left town around 5:00pm. We arrived at Brent’s sisters place around 11:45pm. It is a nice halfway point between both families.. and it is an extra bonus!

Thursday, April 1

It sure is nice being able to stay with family while travelling, especially with Connor. We don’t have to rush at all. We can take our time in the morning and visit with family while eating a hot breakfast. And plus Brent’s niece and nephew love having Brent there. I think we left their place around 10-10:30am. It is another 6 hour drive to my hometown. SO we got there in plenty of time to visit and half a nice dinner. My dad cooked pizza outside in a pizza oven.. YUM! Plus my mom makes her own sourdough pizza dough. (Also if you know me… you probably know my mom. She makes delicious sourdough bread and sells it. If your interested, let her know!)

As you can see.. my baby is a good traveler! It sure is nice when you travel 12 hours frequently to visit family!

For those of you who don’t know me.. my family lives in a community that can be accessed a few ways. The shortest way saves you an hour, so obviously that is the way we take….. However, it is the most stressful way because to save you that hour, you must cross an ice bridge. I hate it. It freaks me out. I lived there my entire life and have crossed it SOO often. And yet, after almost 25 years. I still hate it.

As a kid, whenever we crossed it, my mom would unbuckle, and I didn’t really understand why.. until I got older. I get clammy hands, white knuckles and am tense the entire way across. At the time it cold hold 60ton. So, very safe for a small car. On the way home it went down to 55ton. And then the next day it closed. So that is great…(insert sarcasm). I have been working on a video of our Easter weekend and the crossing will be on it.

Friday, April 2

Good Friday. But as we learned from out Pastor… it wasn’t friday.. and it wasn’t good. For more info on that please listen to this message my pastor preached on it.. linked below

After church we went to my Grandparents for a soup lunch, a faspa, (Faspa is a low-German, Mennonite term used for a typical late afternoon lunch that for generations has been served in Mennonite homes. The lunch consists of fresh, homemade buns, butter, jam, coffee, and cheese. Faspa can also include fruit preserves, sausage or other sliced meat, and dessert.) , with family and friends, and the back to my grandparents for a big Easter dinner with the whole family. It was a busy eventful day, but till lots of fun. Connor was quite tired by the end of the day. So we went back to my parents and put Connor down for the night. Then Brent and I went to visit is cousin and his family.

Saturday, April 3

Woke up with a sore throat this morning….

Had a delicious brunch with my family and friends. My parents and younger brother have mastered eggs benedict. (homemade sourdough english muffins, made by my mother). And then for dinner we celebrated my sisters birthday. My younger brother and I made her birthday cake.

And my dad smoked ribs for dinner. We feasted well!!

Connor got a lot of attention wh

April 4, Sunday

My cold got worse today, so I stayed home from church.

We had lunch at my grandmas and then dinner at my sisters place. Other than that… not a whole lot happened.

April 5, Monday

All my siblings came to mom and dads for the day today today. We celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. We had brunch together and my dad smoked a brisket for dinner. It was a warm day. We spent the majority of the day outside.

April 6, Tuesday

Driving all the way home today. We left my parents at 7:30am and got home right around 8:30pm. We stopped frequently on the way home, so Connor had a break from the carseat.

So yeah, that is our Easter weekend. I am working on a video for Youtube. I hope you enjoyed this! Have a great day!
