Welcome to the world, Connor John

So this will be a little different then my last blog. I will be writing it like it is in real time. But before I do that, I want to share some scripture verses that I saved for baby day.

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – II Timothy 1:7

“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” -Psalms 34:4

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” -Philippians 4:13

“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” -Psalms 73:26

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with all thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally brethren, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.” -Philippians 4:4-8

“Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.” -Psalms 55:22

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” -James 4:8

“I lift my eyes up to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” -Psalms 18:2-3

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” -James 1:2-5

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. For I, the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you'” -Isaiah 41:10,13

“Trust in The LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” -Proverbs 3:5-6

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon me and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30

Connor decided to join our family a little earlier then he was suppose to. June 23,2020 I though I was having early labor signs. So my husband took me in (due to covid he wasn’t allowed in till labor was confirmed.) After my examination they confirmed I was in early labor, but it could still be days. So they sent me home. They said once labor started it would be probably go quick so not to wait around but to come in asap. I had quite painful Braxton hicks that night. I even did a load of baby laundry to be ready. Sadly, they went away by 1-2am. June 24,2020 I had my bi-weekly checkup where my doctor went over everything with Brent and I. I had low platelets and so we needed backup blood just in case. And because of my low platelets, an epidural wasn’t an option. During that appointment we had a bedside ultrasound done to check baby’s position…. footling breech. NO! I had my entire labor planned out… NATURALLY!!! So unless baby flipped, C-section it was. And because of my low platelets, no spinal. That would mean the C-section would have to happen via general anesthetic. After doing some reading online, I saw there were at-home methods to flip baby. Guess what I did all day the next day? June 25,2020 My 24th birthday. How wonderful it would be for baby to give mommy a present and rotate into the right position. I bounced on my ball, different sitting positions, stretches, warm bath, and hot-cold therapy(Heating pad on lower belly and ice pack by ribs… the warmth is suppose to encourage baby to move his head in that direction.) Nothing seemed to work. That evening my husband took me out for my birthday dinner. A restaurant by the lake. We ended up taking some pictures there as I hadn’t had a chance to do a maternity photo shoot.

Later that night, we got the baby room ready. After we went to bed, I started feeling some unusual pressure.. oh well. I wasn’t due for another few weeks. I thought it was nothing and went to bed. June 26,2020 I woke up with contractions, thinking they were normal, I didn’t give them much more thought. I had two doctor appointments today. and then we had plans to go camping with some friends, near town, for my birthday weekend. The first one, at 9:30, was to plan my C-section. Booked for July 2, 2020. The second appointment was at 11:30, the blood doctor, just making sure everything was a go for my C-section. By now my contractions were getting a little painful.. nothing I couldn’t handle. But I mentioned them to the blood doctor anyways. He went and got my doctor, who told me to go the hospital to get checked. So for the second time this week Brent waited in the car as I went in to get checked. They attached me to the contractions and baby’s heartbeat monitors. Without saying anything to me about my state they asked if I was here alone. I said no, Brent is in the car. Oh, he is allowed in now. What?! Our hospital rules during covid.. no spouse allowed in unless your in labour… I texted Brent to come in. I got some blood work done to see if my platelets had gone up.. negative. My doctor then walked in and and checked me. I was in active labor. By then my contractions were a little more intense. It was baby day!! My husband texted the friends we were gonna camp with, went home and got our hospital bags, and dropped off our house key with the lady who was going to watch our house while we were in the hospital. He got back in time to kiss me as they wheeled me into the OR. This happened all between 12-1pm. By 2:43 our beautiful baby boy was. Because I was still sleeping my husband got 15-20 min of skin on skin with him. I think I woke up around 3ish and finally got to meet our baby. We knew from ultrasounds that he had a clubbed left foot… but what we didn’t know was going to change everything that day for us.
